Per Garrett Athletics historian Kenneth Cutler, Garrett wrestling’s NECC Title won last night at Prairie Heights was the 120th conference championship in the history of Garrett Railroader athletics.
The conference crown also gives the boys wrestling team their 13th conference championship overall. They are now tied with the boys basketball, girls basketball and softball programs with 13 conference championships. Football leads the way with 20 conference titles and boys track & field has 17.
The wrestling program’s seven consecutive conference championships ties a Garrett High School record with the boys track & field program, who won seven straight State Corner Conference titles from 1935 thru 1941.
