Current Covid Protocols
Posted on 08/26/2022
Coronavirus GKB leadership is in constant communication with the DeKalb County Health Department and Health Commissioner regarding the coronavirus status in our community and the recommended guidelines we should follow. Local health recommendations and CDC guidance are regularly reviewed and taken into consideration and practice for the safety of our students, staff, and community at large.

Currently, students who test positive, whether via home test or at a laboratory, should isolated at home for 5 days from the onset of symptoms. Students can return after 5 days and are welcome to wear a mask on return to school if they wish. Parents/guardians should report their absence to attendance, noting that they have tested positive for covid and when their return date would be. Positive results should be provided. Home test images will be accepted as proof if the students name or initials and the test date are written on the test.

Students do NOT need to stay home if someone in the house tests positive or is being tested, or if they are considered a close contact. Monitoring for symptoms and testing upon developing symptoms is recommended.

The Indiana State Department of Health has provided free at home covid tests to schools. If you are in need of an at home covid test, please reach out to the clinic.

Questions regarding Covid can be directed to the school clinic at [email protected] or 260-357-6717.
